  December 2010 in Kuala Lumpur

Message

YB Dato' Ahmad Shabery Cheek
Minister of Youth and Sports, Malaysia

It is my pleasure as the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, on behalf of the organizing council to warmly welcome all officials, master athletes and their family members to Kuala Lumpur for the 16th Asian Masters Athletic championship in 2010 (16th AMAC).

I wish to express my gratitude to all Asian Countries for having shown confidence in selecting Malaysia as the host for the 16th AMAC in 2010. The championship is growing in popularity with each passing year. This championship keeps the master athletes fit and healthy. We all believe in the saying "A healthy mind is in a healthy body". Furthermore, this championship also provides a good opportunity for those who have been prominent athletes, in the past, to meet their old friends and exchange views.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is delighted that 24 Asian countries affiliated to Asian Masters Athletics (AMA), will be participating in this championship. The Malaysian Masters Athletic Association (MMAA) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia will stage this championship successfully in the year 2010.

I hope all the participants and officials will enjoy the competition, the warmth of Malaysians, the spectacular panorama of Malaysian countryside, and fascinating multi-culture. I wish all participants and officials good luck and hope you have the opportunity to return to Malaysia in the future.

Thank you

YB Dato' Ahmad Shabery Cheek
